Learn about our journey and the why behind FlameGuard
On March 23, 2023, a devastating house fire claimed the lives of Jackson Township residents Jeffrey and Talina Hawk and their children, Amelia and Javen.
The tragic loss of the Hawk family impacted the entire Jackson Township community. Jeffrey and Talina were devoted parents and active members of the community. Amelia and Javen, were both students at Jackson Memorial Middle School.
Impacted by the tragic loss of the Hawk family, Jackson High School Junior Achievement students began to search for solutions and ideas to prevent future tragedies.
Students created the first of its kind, Emergency Fire Protection Kit. It contains the life saving fire safety equipment and education needed to navigate fires safely.
In a few short months, FlameGuard impacted hundreds of customers and quickly became a simple, all-in-one solution to fire safety.
They had the opportunity to attend the National Student Leadership Summit (NSLS) in Washington D.C. where they were named The 2024 Company of The Year.
In 2025 FlameGuard was recognized as De La Vega Global Entrepreneurship Award recipients; a prestigious youth entrepreneurship award.
This opened doors for FlameGuard to make a global impact and provide fire safety equipment to various countries outside the U.S.
FlameGuard continues to serve thousands of individuals equipping them with the tools and education to navigate fires.
They continue to expand our products to global markets making fire safety accessible and affordable. They also continue to focus on giving back to the community and those affected by fire tragedies.
At the core of their mission, FlameGuard remains driven by the Hawk family tragedy, which continues to serve as the foundation and motivation behind their work.
